While stationed in the Philippines in the 1970's i was told by a friend that Philippine people believed in mermaid type people but that the creatures were very ugly and would attack and kill people in the water. The friend who told me about it was well educated and a survivor of the Bataan Death march of World War II. He was also a respected leader in the community.

I believe in a lot of things but here's the reality of a truth cryptozoologist if and I do mean if something fantastic is scene we know we have to keep quiet we could never let something so fantastic as a mermaid fall into the hands of mankind.
